Stewardship & Renewable Energy
RENEWABLE ENERGY EXHIBIT
The new Renewable Energy Exhibit is funded by Google and Bonneville Environmental Foundation. This new exhibit explores renewable energy sources used in our area and under development. The project was designed by students in the Delta Energy Club of Columbia Gorge Community College, and was fabricated by Showtime Exhibitions of Portland. A solar panel array was installed in the picnic area this past summer, which contributes solar energy directly into the Discovery Center’s electrical transformer. A bonus feature of the solar pavilion structure is that is provides some summer shade in the picnic area. The Renewable Energy exhibit inside the Discovery Center is related to alternative energy and a kiosk shows the energy produced by the solar panels.
STEWARDSHIP FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
Produced for the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum. This video is the final element of an exhibit on Stewardship of the Columbia River Gorge. The very last scene of the video takes place in the River Gallery of the Museum, the space into which the viewer exits the exhibit. 2011 marked the 25th Anniversary of the National Scenic Area Act, which makes it especially important that the video ends with a call to action, challenging the viewer to engage. This video received a Bronze award in the 33rd Annual Telly Awards competition in the “Social Responsibility” category.
