It is time to vote for Best of the Gorge. If you love the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum, please give us your vote! It would really mean a lot to all of us who work so hard at the Museum. We are nominated in three categories:
Best Museum: Go to Arts and Entertainment and then to Museum to find us
Best Place to Get Married: Go to Local and then Place to Get Married to find us
Best Gift Shop: Go to Shopping then Gift Shop to find us
Don't forget to submit your votes when you are done!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I’d like to share some updates with you, including lots of good news! While the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum is not ready for visitors yet, much is happening inside and outside our building.
Inside, professional cleanup continues in order to make the building healthy and safe for visitors and staff. We had some relatively minor water damage in the administrative offices downstairs and smoke impacts in some upstairs spaces. Everything is getting deep cleaned and polished up so it will sparkle when we reopen. Our plan is to invite you back by late August.
As an added bonus, by the time we open our doors again, we will have our brand new air conditioning system installed and cooling the building better than ever.
Personally, it’s been difficult being away from the building, and I miss being together with the CGDCM team each day. Though we are all working in our own spaces away from the building, it’s not the same as crossing paths in the River Gallery and meeting up around the table in my office. I’m counting down the days when I might bump into you in our exhibition galleries too!

Thanks to the courageous protection from firefighters, the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum survived the Rowena Fire. As you will see in these photographs, significant areas of the Museum grounds burned. The Museum building and our raptor enclosures also sustained some minor fire damage. We are working hard to assess the damage and the needed repairs so that we can safely open our doors again soon.
We are also thinking about our friends and neighbors who lost property in the fire. Please consider making a donation of support to our neighbors if you can. Please consider supporting the Museum though a contribution or a membership.
